An Alkatara (Coal Tar) Coal Mixing Tank fabricated from MS IS2062 is a heavy-duty mild steel vessel designed for storage, heating, and continuous mixing of coal tar, bitumen blends, and tar-based compounds. These tanks are widely used in road construction plants, waterproofing industries, bitumen processing units, coating manufacturers, and infrastructure projects where viscous, high-temperature materials require uniform mixing and controlled heating.
MS IS2062 (Grade E250/E350) is an Indian Standard structural steel known for high tensile strength, excellent weldability, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Its mechanical strength and fabrication suitability make it ideal for atmospheric storage and mixing tanks operating at elevated temperatures.
Material of Construction (MOC):
Shell, bottom, and roof plates are fabricated from MS IS2062. Nozzles are MS/carbon steel. Flanges are ANSI/Table D/E type. Structural supports, agitator mounting frames, and platforms are fabricated from MS sections. Corrosion allowance of 1–2 mm is generally provided.
Capacity Range:
Available from 500 Liters to 100 KL and above (1 KL, 2 KL, 5 KL, 10 KL, 20 KL, 30 KL, 50 KL etc.). Capacity depends on plant production, heating system capacity, and site requirement.
Tank Types:
Vertical cylindrical tanks (cone/dome roof) for fixed plants; horizontal saddle-mounted tanks for easy transport; jacketed tanks for thermic fluid/steam heating; and insulated tanks with mineral wool cladding to reduce heat loss.
Design Parameters:

Mixing System:

Heating System:
